Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau had a press briefing where he introduced a bill to freeze handgun sales.
“We’re introducing legislation to put a national freeze on handgun sales. What this means is that it will no longer be possible to buy, sell, transfer, or import handguns anywhere in Canada,” Trudeau said.
Just like the opportunist he is, Trudeau used the recent mass shootings in the US as a talking point, justifying his legislation to freeze gun sales.
“We need only look south of the border to know that if we do not take action, firmly and rapidly, it gets worse and worse and more difficult to counter,” Trudeau said.
Trudeau’s bill would create a “red flag” law that allows law enforcement to confiscate firearms when a court deems a gun owner to pose a risk to themselves or others.
